Newcastle United manager Matthias Jaissle received an injury boost during the international break as Joelinton and Nico Gonzalez returned to training. Both players took part in an open training session, suggesting they could be available for Newcastle's upcoming Premier League match against Coventry City on October 12.
Joelinton has yet to make an appearance this season due to injury, while summer signing Gonzalez missed the recent 2-1 victory over Hull City under concussion protocol. Meanwhile, several other senior players including Dan Burn, Amar Dedic, Tino Livramento, William Osula, Jacob Ramsey, Anthony Elanga, and Fabian Schar were absent from the open portion of the session.
