The Story in 60 Seconds

A 64-year-old Newcastle man named Crispin has issued a public plea for financial support to continue shipping football equipment to young people in Mfuwe, Zambia. Working alongside his wife, Dr Ellie Bond, Crispin has collected kits and Astroturf to help local schools and teams through the charity Project Luangwa. However, shipping logistics have become costly after the National Police Aid Charity ceased operations.

Sending the collected gear now requires paying commercial shipping rates of approximately £1,000 per pallet, prompting Crispin to launch a GoFundMe campaign to cover the expenses. Crispin noted that engaging local youth in football plays a vital community role by keeping them away from poaching and environmental degradation.
