The Magpies were no match for Aston Villa who won it by a single goal but could have had many more…
Newcastle United struggled severely as they were defeated 1-0 by Aston Villa at St James' Park. The decisive goal came just nine minutes into the contest when Johan Manzambi headed in from a Joao Gomes cross at the Gallowgate End. Newcastle failed to record a shot on target in the first half and could not find an equalizer despite pushing forward late in the match.
Manager Jaissle adjusted his lineup after 55 minutes by substituting Joe Willock and Matias Fernandez-Pardo. Journalist Lee Ryder handed out low marks across the Newcastle squad, noting that several players lacked confidence, struggled defensively, and failed to generate quality attacking chances throughout the game.
