Newcastle United are expected to miss out on Swedish midfielder Yasin Ayari as Brighton & Hove Albion accelerate contract renewal talks. The Magpies had targeted the 23-year-old for manager Matthias Jaissle's midfield rebuild, but Brighton are determined to keep him and are pushing to secure a new deal.
Ayari is approaching free agency next summer, although Brighton reportedly hold a 12-month extension option. The Seagulls are prepared to offer terms that reflect his key role to fend off interest from Newcastle, Chelsea, and other suitors.
