The Story in 60 Seconds

Vasco da Gama have opened discussions with Nottingham Forest goalkeeper John Victor's representatives ahead of the January transfer window. Vasco's new president Marcos Lamacchia has made the shot-stopper a priority target to strengthen his squad for 2027. Forest are open to selling the Brazilian goalkeeper to raise transfer funds for their own reinforcements, having ruled out any loan proposals.

Forest are seeking a permanent transfer fee of approximately €9 million (£7.8 million) for John Victor, whose contract runs until June 2028. Vasco's opening bid is expected to fall below that valuation and request payment in installments, though his monthly salary of €145,000 (£125,000) is reported to be within their financial reach.
