Key Things to Know

  • The 1-1 draw between Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town saw goals from Neco Williams and Julio Enciso.
  • Bramall determined Ipswich defender Leif Davis was in position to cover following Diop's challenge on James McAtee.
The Story in 60 Seconds

Former referee Dermot Gallagher stated that referee Thomas Bramall made the right decision not to send off Ipswich Town's Issa Diop against Nottingham Forest. The incident occurred during Friday night's 1-1 draw at Portman Road, where Bramall initially waved play on before being sent to the pitchside monitor by VAR to review a potential denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity against James McAtee.

Bramall ultimately issued Diop a yellow card, citing the covering run of defender Leif Davis and the ball's direction. Although Nottingham Forest manager Oliver Glasner praised the VAR review process, he maintained post-match that Diop should have received a red card. Pundit Jay Bothroyd also agreed with Bramall's decision, noting Davis was positioned well to make a tackle.
