Real Madrid are reportedly considering Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders as a long-term replacement for Thibaut Courtois ahead of his expected departure. According to Fichajes, the 21-year-old Belgian is on a three-man shortlist alongside Brighton's Bart Verbruggen and Porto captain Diogo Costa, with Florentino Perez and Jose Mourinho planning for Courtois' potential exit when his contract expires in June 2027.
Penders has emerged as a major target after making six appearances under Xabi Alonso this season. However, Chelsea hold significant negotiating leverage as the goalkeeper is under a permanent contract through June 2032, meaning Madrid would reportedly have to pay a substantial transfer fee to secure him over alternative options.
