Sunderland slipped into the Premier League relegation zone following their defeat at Bournemouth on Sunday.

Former Sunderland player Don Hutchison addressed the club's relegation threat after a 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth placed them into the Premier League bottom three. Despite a slow start featuring only one victory in their first seven league games, Hutchison stated he would be stunned if Sunderland remained near the relegation zone in two to three months, expressing confidence in their squad quality.
Hutchison highlighted the challenge manager Regis Le Bris faces in balancing European fixtures with domestic duties. While Sunderland secured consecutive Europa League wins against AZ Alkmaar and Torreense, Hutchison noted that navigating congested schedules and player rotation remains a difficult task.
