Former Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea forward Timo Werner revealed that fan abuse in England and Germany significantly affected him throughout his career. Speaking on The Late Run Podcast, the German striker admitted to enduring moments at home feeling crushed as supporters constantly booed him, sang derogatory songs, and targeted him in public after high-profile incidents.
Werner, who currently plays in MLS for the San Jose Earthquakes, noted the hostility began in Germany following a 2016 dive against Schalke. He explained that a similar pattern followed him to Chelsea after missed chances, and later persisted during his loan spell with Tottenham.
