Tottenham suffer blow in pursuit of Vangelis Pavlidis as Benfica plan to offer the striker a new deal.
Benfica are reportedly planning to offer striker Vangelis Pavlidis a new contract with a salary increase following his impressive start to the season. The 27-year-old Greek international has scored 14 goals in 13 appearances, attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona. However, Benfica coach Marco Silva has made retaining the forward a priority.
Pavlidis is currently under contract until 2029 with a reported €100 million release clause. Rohan Sengupta argues that this valuation presents a major obstacle for Tottenham ahead of the January transfer window, especially after their significant summer expenditure.
