Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been linked with a move for free agent striker Mauro Icardi to help solve their goalscoring issues. The 33-year-old Argentine forward is currently without a club after his contract with Turkish side Galatasaray expired in June. Italian media reports had suggested that Spurs were competing with Lazio for his signature.
However, a potential free transfer is highly unlikely to happen immediately due to Premier League registration rules. Journalist Tom Barclay pointed out that Tottenham have already submitted their 25-man squad, meaning Icardi could not be registered or play for the club until the transfer window opens in January 2027.
