Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Chris Waddle has warned fans to temper expectations as Dejan Kulusevski nears a return to fitness after more than 500 days out. Kulusevski recently participated in an 11-a-side training match, and manager Roberto De Zerbi praised his resilience during his recovery from a severe knee injury. However, Waddle urged patience, noting the 26-year-old will need significant time to rebuild confidence and match sharpness.
Waddle suggested that Kulusevski should be eased back through limited substitute appearances or reserve fixtures. In addition, Waddle commented on fellow playmaker James Maddison, noting that while the injury-hit midfielder fits De Zerbi's front-foot style and provides creative quality, recurring fitness issues continue to raise doubts over his long-term consistency.
