Cristian Romero says Tottenham have an ‘incredible’ player who can reach the very top

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has praised his former center-back partner Micky van de Ven, calling him an incredible talent who possesses every key attribute required to excel. Speaking on Gaston Edul's YouTube channel, Romero highlighted Van de Ven's speed, technical ability, and defensive skill, noting that the Dutch defender elevated his game during their time together in North London.

Romero departed Tottenham to join Atletico Madrid following controversial incidents off the pitch, while Van de Ven subsequently took over as Spurs captain. Writer Bharad Thirumalai reflects that despite injuries and managerial instability, the duo formed one of the Premier League's most formidable defensive partnerships and played an instrumental role in ending Tottenham's 17-year trophy drought in May 2025.
