Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Paul van Hecke is facing mounting criticism for his international performances with the Netherlands. Former Dutch international Theo Janssen labeled the 26-year-old center-back the weakest link in the national defense, urging manager Xavi to drop him from the starting lineup in favor of Arsenal defender Jurriën Timber.

Pundits Kenneth Perez and Janssen both heavily criticized his distribution and defensive positioning, as Van Hecke continues to adjust following his summer move from Brighton to Roberto De Zerbi's Tottenham side.
