Former Tottenham Hotspur academy goalkeeper Jonathan De Bie revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic derailed his chances of breaking through in English football. Speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws, the Belgian shot-stopper explained that the shutdown disrupted his momentum after spending five years at the club and prevented him from securing a loan move to the Championship.

De Bie spent five seasons with Tottenham, playing for both the U18 and U21 sides before departing. After spells with RWDM Brussels, Lokeren-Temse, and Schaerbeek, the goalkeeper has since signed with Belgian club Diegem Sport.
