Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi praised Mathys Tel after his decisive goal against Chelsea but stated the young forward must play more to understand football and become calmer in the final third. Tel scored his first goal of the season after a solo run to put Spurs 2-0 up at Stamford Bridge. De Zerbi credited Tel and Mohammed Kudus with making the difference on the wings during the victory.
Tel had previously lost his starting place following criticism over his decision-making in the final third. De Zerbi also praised James Maddison, noting that his substitution due to injury did not appear to be a serious issue.
