Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has criticized the club's defence, claiming his former team needs an entirely new back four. Scholes singled out centre-back Lisandro Martinez following United's 1-1 draw with Tottenham on Saturday, where Dominic Solanke beat Martinez in the air to score a 92nd-minute equalizer for 10-man Spurs.
Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, Scholes argued that United will never win the Premier League with their current centre-halves, stating Martinez was bullied physically. Former United defender Rio Ferdinand echoed the criticism on his YouTube channel, questioning Martinez's defending against Solanke and calling for higher defensive standards.
