James Maddison playfully exposes JP Van Hecke as Roberto De Zerbi’s favorite player at Tottenham.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison has jokingly labeled new signing Jan Paul van Hecke as manager Roberto De Zerbi's "teacher's pet." Speaking in comments shared by The Spurs Watch, Maddison revealed that the Dutch defender receives a uniquely affectionate morning greeting from the manager that resembles a father hugging his son. The strong rapport stems from their previous time working together at Brighton.
Maddison noted that the Tottenham squad frequently teases Van Hecke about his close relationship with the manager. Despite the dressing-room banter, Maddison highlighted that Van Hecke is a top player who earned De Zerbi's trust before following him to North London.
