Corluka Redknapp transfer memories reveal why Harry Redknapp resisted his exit and why the defender later pushed to leave Spurs.

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Vedran Corluka has revealed that former manager Harry Redknapp initially refused to discuss his transfer away from the club. Corluka wanted to secure regular playing time to protect his chances of playing for Croatia at Euro 2012, but Redknapp was adamant about keeping the reliable right-back in his squad.
Corluka explained that he eventually had to beg Redknapp to approve a move to Bayer Leverkusen. The manager softened his stance the day before Corluka's departure, allowing him to leave after making 109 appearances for Spurs across four seasons following his 2008 transfer from Manchester City.
