The Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven had to be taken off the pitch after receiving assistance from the medical staff during the Premier League match against Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven was temporarily forced off the pitch during a Premier League match against Aston Villa after suffering a cut beneath his eye. Under Premier League rules, players receiving on-pitch medical attention must remain off the field for at least one minute once play restarts. During Van de Ven's enforced absence, Tottenham was reduced to 10 men and subsequently conceded the opening goal.
Villa's opening goal was scored by Johan Manzambi, who diverted a shot from Boubacar Kamara into the net. Manzambi became the third-youngest player to score on their first Premier League start for Aston Villa. Former midfielder Danny Murphy noted that despite Tottenham's strong start and early pressure, failing to capitalize on their chances ultimately punished them.
