Aberdeen FC join forces with cheesewire murder victim’s family in fight for justice

Aberdeen FC will remember murdered taxi driver George Murdoch on the 43rd anniversary of his death by featuring the cold case in their matchday programme. The feature will appear in the Red Matchday issue for the club's match against St Johnstone on Sunday, October 11. Murdoch was found dead beside his taxi on Pitfodels Station Road in Aberdeen in September 1983, having been garrotted with a cheesewire.

The programme feature highlights the impact on Murdoch's family, provides an update on Police Scotland's ongoing investigation, and promotes a £50,000 reward for information. Murdoch's nephew, Alex McKay, continues to seek justice alongside investigators, who previously developed a male DNA profile from crime scene evidence but have yet to find a match.
