Former manager Sam Allardyce criticized Cameron Carter-Vickers on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast after the Celtic defender spoke publicly following three straight defeats. Carter-Vickers had called for consistency in messaging, ideas, and effort across the squad while affirming that the squad continues to back manager Martin O’Neill.
Allardyce told the defender to keep his mouth shut, arguing that modern footballers are over-coached and should simply know their roles. The criticism followed a difficult spell for Celtic, which included back-to-back losses to Rangers and a European defeat against Ferencvaros at Celtic Park.
