Celtic defender Liam Scales has been named as one of the Republic of Ireland players who supported goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu's decision to withdraw ahead of two Nations League fixtures against Israel. Alongside Troy Parrott and Jack Moylan, Scales reportedly backed Bazunu during heated squad discussions where tensions and tempers flared over whether to fulfill the scheduled matches.
The Ireland squad subsequently held a vote on playing the fixtures, which reportedly concluded with a result of either 14-8 or 15-7. Scales has not publicly commented, has not withdrawn from the international setup, and remains involved in camp despite the FAI halting media duties and canceling a planned press conference.
