Celtic face the prospect of an early Europa League exit after statistical projections gave them just a 35.4% chance of reaching the knockout stages. Following opening defeats to Ferencvaros and Benfica where they conceded seven goals, Football Rankings projected Martin O'Neill's side to finish 29th out of 36 clubs in the league phase table, forecasting an average of just 7.44 points across their eight matches.
The statistical model rates Celtic's chances of a top-eight finish at only 1.2%, with an 11% chance of making the top 16. Five of their six upcoming opponents, including next visitors Celta Vigo, maintain higher qualification probabilities, leaving Celtic in danger of missing the top 24 cutoff required to avoid elimination.
