Former referee Mark Clattenburg has dismissed Derek McInnes' complaints regarding a tackle by Celtic's Mika Baur on Rangers striker Ryan Naderi. McInnes expressed strong dissatisfaction with the challenge, which left Naderi doubtful for the upcoming reverse fixture due to injury. Clattenburg explained that while the referee mistakenly awarded Celtic a free kick instead of Rangers, the tackle did not warrant a VAR intervention for a red card.
Clattenburg noted that the challenge lacked the necessary force and speed to be classified as serious foul play, meaning VAR could not intervene to recommend a yellow card. Former SFA referee Bobby Madden supported this view, agreeing that the tackle did not endanger the opponent. Celtic led 2-0 at the time of the incident, and manager Martin O'Neill is now preparing his team for the upcoming derby match.
