The principal shareholder has been accused of poor decision making at the top of the Scottish champions

Football adviser Charlie Methven has criticized Celtic principal shareholder Dermot Desmond, claiming the club hoards cash rather than investing in the squad and stadium. Speaking on the Business of Sport podcast ahead of Celtic's upcoming AGM, Methven alleged the board may hold around £90 million in the bank while neglecting needed improvements to Celtic Park and failing to build a competitive European squad.
However, Celtic's latest published financial accounts showed cash reserves decreased from £77.3 million to £66.4 million. The club also reported an annual loss of £4.8 million alongside a drop in revenue from £143.6 million to £111 million, largely stemming from a failure to qualify for the Champions League.
