The Story in 60 Seconds

Celtic midfielder Francis Turley withdrew from Tommy Wright's Northern Ireland Under-21 squad without an explained reason, only to play for Celtic B hours later. Turley featured for the full 90 minutes and scored twice, including a 92nd-minute equalizer from the penalty spot, in a 3-3 draw against Clachnacuddin.

The Irish FA did not cite an injury when calling up Nottingham Forest's Kalum Thompson as Turley's replacement for European Championship qualifiers. Neither Celtic nor Northern Ireland has clarified the reason for his withdrawal, though Turley previously withdrew from international duty in 2024 to join Brendan Rodgers' first-team pre-season tour.
