Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has strongly criticized the club's European form, describing their defensive vulnerability as "frightening" after a 2-1 Europa League home defeat to Celta Vigo. Speaking to the Daily Record, Sutton argued that Celtic urgently require January reinforcements after suffering four consecutive European defeats against LASK, Ferencvaros, Benfica, and Celta Vigo, during which they conceded 14 goals under manager Martin O'Neill.
Sutton warned that Celtic's European struggles will make it difficult to attract quality signings and retain key players like Camilo Duran. He labeled the team "flat-track bullies" who may dominate Scottish Premiership rivals but consistently falter when facing capable European opposition that readily exploits their glaring defensive deficiencies.
