It was a sobering night for Hoops as they suffered a second successive defeat in the Europa League following a nightmare first half

Celtic suffered a comprehensive 4-1 defeat away to Benfica at the Estadio Da Luz, marking their fourth loss in five matches across all competitions. Jhon Duran netted a brace alongside goals from Alexander Bah and late substitute Vangelis Pavlidis for the hosts. Camilo Duran scored the solitary consolation goal for Martin O'Neill's side, who struggled defensively throughout the first half.
Despite second-half improvements aided by substitute Haissem Hassan setting up Duran's header, Celtic could not mount a full comeback. Benfica manager Marco Silva saw his team extend their unbeaten home run in the Europa League to 30 games. Record Sport noted ongoing struggles for Celtic striker Kasper Hogh, who extended his goal drought to eight appearances.
