Former boss is back in Gorgie with new club…

Rangers manager Derek McInnes is preparing for a hostile reception at Tynecastle as he returns to face his former club Hearts on Wednesday night. McInnes left Hearts in June to take over at Rangers, shortly after the Edinburgh club narrowly missed out on the Scottish Premiership title to Celtic. Second-placed Rangers currently aim to extend their lead over third-placed Hearts to eight points, with former Hearts players Lawrence Shankland and Cammy Devlin also having made the switch.
McInnes revealed that he was holding transfer discussions for Hearts only days before his departure, speaking directly with several prospective signings during his holiday. Despite expecting hostility from supporters, McInnes praised Hearts' structure under chairman Callum Paterson and backed his successor Wouter Vrancken's team to remain serious title contenders this season.
