Ryan McDowell and mum Val McDowell tragically died within 24 hours of each other earlier this month.

The family of Ryan McDowell and his mother, Val McDowell, have requested a minute's applause during the 38th minute of the Scottish League Cup semi-final between Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian FC. Ryan, 38, passed away on October 6, and his 64-year-old mother died just 24 hours later. Both were lifelong Hearts supporters, and a joint funeral has been arranged for them.
Ryan's sister, Deborah Moir, hopes the tribute will honor their memory and raise awareness for men's mental health while calling for improved NHS support. Ryan was remembered as a gentleman by his team Lochgelly United Sundays AFC, while Val was honored by the Abbeyview Day Centre. Separately, Hibernian fans have also been asked to applaud in the 33rd minute for deceased supporter Daniel Phillips.
