Penrice has come under fire for a late challenge on Aremu and questions are being asked over why he wasn't even booked…

Former referee Keith Hackett stated that James Penrice should have received a straight red card during Rangers' 1-0 Premier Sports Cup semi-final victory over Aberdeen. Hackett questioned why neither on-field referee Ryan Lee nor VAR official John Beaton took disciplinary action after Penrice caught Aberdeen's Aremu with a high boot during the first half.
Penrice escaped without a booking for the challenge and later provided the assist for Ryan Naderi's winning goal at Hampden. Hackett described the tackle as serious foul play, echoing criticism from television pundit Michael Stewart and former referees Des Roache and Steve Conroy.
