ROGERS MATO now knows why Mo Salah gives defenders sleepless nights. So he’s grateful Wouter Vrancken waited until he’d woken up on Thursday to tell him he would be marking the Egyptian legend. Harry Milne’s ACL injury at training on…

Hearts winger Rogers Mato revealed that Mo Salah gave him a hug and wished the team well following Hearts' 2-0 defeat to Trabzonspor in the Conference League. Mato was deployed in an unfamiliar left-back role by manager Wouter Vrancken to mark the Egyptian forward, learning about the assignment only on the morning of the match. Mato also noted that teammate Calvin Miller was the player who acquired Salah's match shirt.
Vrancken turned to Mato in defence following an ACL injury suffered by Harry Milne, amid an extensive injury list that includes Stuart Findlay, Oisin McEntee, and Laurent Mendy. Salah scored a penalty and assisted Fraculino Dju's goal during the encounter, though Mato expressed pride in competing against the star and voiced willingness to continue playing defensively if required.
