Rangers boss Derek McInnes was left to lament basic defensive errors despite his team salvaging a point against Hearts on his return to Tynecastle.

Rangers manager Derek McInnes admitted his team was second best after salvaging a late 2-2 draw against Hearts at Tynecastle. Kevin Kelsy opened the scoring for Rangers in the first half, but Hearts overturned the deficit through second-half goals from Claudio Braga and Calvin Miller. Rangers secured a point at the death courtesy of a header from Olwethu Makhanya, missing an opportunity to capitalize on rivals Celtic dropping points.
Returning to his former club, McInnes faced a hostile reception and lamented basic defensive errors and cheap free kicks that allowed Hearts to control the match. Despite tension between McInnes and Hearts manager Wouter Vrancken at full-time, both managers dismissed the incident. Vrancken praised his injury-hit squad, which was missing eight key players, despite being disappointed by conceding a late equalizer.
