Former referee Keith Hackett has defended match officials following controversy in Rangers' 3-1 victory against Kilmarnock. Neil McCann criticized the decision to allow Kevin Kelsy's goal, arguing that the Venezuelan striker committed a handball before scoring. Hackett told Ibrox News that the evidence was inconclusive regarding deliberate handball, meaning referee Matthew MacDermid made the correct decision not to guess and VAR rightly refrained from intervening.
Rangers claimed the three points after Ryan Naderi scored a brace alongside Kelsy's controversial strike past goalkeeper Calum Ferrie. Despite Kilmarnock's frustrations over the decision and defensive mistakes, Rangers maintained control of the Scottish Premiership clash following the international break. Hackett maintained that without proof of a clear and obvious error, the goal had to stand.
