Rangers teenage left-back Ashton Scally has revealed that first-team defender James Penrice has been actively mentoring him behind the scenes. The 16-year-old made his senior debut in May against Falkirk before injury disrupted his pre-season. Following his return in a Scottish Youth Cup match against Dundee United's youth side, Scally explained that he regularly speaks with Penrice about technique and player development.
Penrice, who is currently on loan at Rangers with an option to buy, recently expressed his own desire to remain at Ibrox permanently. Declan Carr of Ibrox News argues that the club must do everything possible to secure Penrice on a permanent transfer, citing his positive mentorship of academy players.
