Rangers player suffers unwanted career first on int’l duty last night

Rangers winger Djeidi Gassama experienced a career first by missing a penalty in normal time during Mauritania's 2-1 defeat to Benin on Tuesday. With Mauritania trailing by two goals, Gassama failed to convert from the spot with about 20 minutes remaining in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Despite the penalty miss, Gassama earned a 7.4 Sofascore rating, the highest among Mauritania's players. Teammate Aboubakary Koita later scored a penalty, but Mauritania could not find an equalizer before Gassama's return to Rangers.
