Rangers man bags milestone goal but is denied in dramatic finale as ex-Celtic ace left out

Rangers striker Kevin Kelsy scored his first international goal for Venezuela, but his side fell to a 2-1 defeat against Japan in Hiroshima. Kelsy struck shortly after halftime off a pass from Luis Balbo, beating goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. However, Japan leveled the match through Ayase Ueda, before Ueda converted a 96th-minute penalty following a VAR review to secure the win for the hosts.

Former Celtic forward Daizen Maeda remained on the bench for Japan throughout the friendly. Kelsy, who recently signed with Rangers from Portland Timbers for a reported £9 million fee, was substituted before the decisive late penalty. Venezuela will continue their international window on Friday when they face South Korea at the Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium.
