Swansea City centre-back Stephen Welsh drops out the Scotland squad for their forthcoming Nations League double-header and is replaced with Los Angeles' Ryan Porteous.

Swansea City centre-back Stephen Welsh has withdrawn from the Scotland squad for their upcoming Nations League fixtures, with Los Angeles defender Ryan Porteous called up as his replacement. Welsh picked up an injury during Swansea's 3-1 defeat at Portsmouth on Tuesday, and although initial scans showed no significant damage, the Scottish FA confirmed his withdrawal ahead of games against North Macedonia and Switzerland.
Porteous earns his first call-up under head coach Sebastien Pocognoli, having last played for Scotland in March 2025. The former Hibernian and Watford defender has made 35 appearances for MLS side Los Angeles this year, as Scotland aim to collect at least four points from their final two group matches to reach the promotion play-offs.
