McTominay on target but Napoli succumb to defeat…

Scott McTominay scored for Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday night, despite his side suffering a 4-1 defeat away to Porto. The 29-year-old midfielder equalized in the 43rd minute with a first-time volley after Rasmus Hojlund's shot was saved, marking his fifth goal in seven starts since returning from heart surgery. Porto secured victory through goals from Jan Bednarek, Gabri Veiga, Jakob Kiwior, and a Samu Aghehowa penalty following Rafa Marin's red card.
The strike brought McTominay's career Champions League total to eight, establishing him as Scotland's leading goalscorer in the competition since its 1993 rebrand. Teammate Billy Gilmour completed the full 90 minutes for Napoli, with both players scheduled to join Sebastien Pocognoli's Scotland squad following Sunday's Serie A fixture against Lazio for Nations League matches against North Macedonia and Switzerland.
