Roma director Tony D’Amico admits the defeat to Manchester United was ‘a learning experience’ for them, confirming the need to sign ‘a forward who can do damage on the counter-attack’ when leading.

Roma director Tony D'Amico stated that the club's Champions League defeat against Manchester United was a valuable learning experience. Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, D'Amico admitted the squad needs a fast wide forward to exploit counter-attacks when leading, confirming plans to address this in the January transfer window after squandering a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at Old Trafford.
D'Amico also argued that a generous penalty sparked Manchester United's comeback and noted that playing top sides helps the club understand the resources required by manager Gian Piero Gasperini. Regarding player availability, defender Gianluca Mancini joined an extensive injury list, while midfielder Manu Koné returned to the squad following a muscular injury.
