Lautaro Martinez scored in Argentina's 4-0 victory over Bolivia on Thursday, matching Sergio Aguero as the country's joint third all-time top goalscorer. Starting alongside Julian Alvarez in the absence of Lionel Messi, the Inter Milan forward opened the scoring in the 19th minute by finding the bottom corner from 18 yards out following build-up play from Exequiel Palacios and Alexis Mac Allister.

The strike marked Martinez's 41st international goal for Argentina, putting him behind only Gabriel Batistuta with 55 goals and Messi with 125 goals. Head coach Lionel Scaloni has also confirmed that Martinez will serve as Argentina's third-choice captain once Messi retires, behind Cuti Romero and Emiliano Martinez.
