The Story in 60 Seconds

CONI's executive committee has unanimously approved placing the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) under special administration, appointing Giovanni Malago as commissioner. According to Tuttosport, all 15 voting members supported the compromise measure during Tuesday's meeting, with formal ratification by CONI's National Council expected shortly after.

Malago won the FIGC presidential election on June 22 with 68.58 percent of the vote, but CONI contested the result over candidate registration issues. Under the compromise agreed with CONI president Luciano Buonfiglio, Malago will serve as interim commissioner and is expected to call fresh elections within approximately three months.
