Adriano Galliani is one step closer to becoming the new FIGC President after the Players’…

Adriano Galliani has officially received the backing of both the Italian Players' Association (AIC) and the Coaches' Association (AIAC) to run for FIGC President in the upcoming election on December 14. Galliani will contest the leadership against Giovanni Malago, who previously won an election in June before it was annulled because he was technically ineligible as an unregistered FIGC member.
Malago was subsequently named Special Commissioner on October 6 until the new election, but his supporting coalition has fractured. The AIC and AIAC released a joint statement endorsing the 82-year-old former AC Milan and Monza executive, citing his vast administrative experience and readiness to pursue deferred structural reforms across Italian football.
