Javier Zanetti has revealed how he swapped the training pitch for the boardroom, and why…

Inter legend Javier Zanetti has discussed his transition from team captain to vice-president on Melissa Satta's podcast, The Long Game. After retiring in 2014 following 858 appearances for the club, Zanetti moved straight into the boardroom. He revealed that he undertook studies at Bocconi University to adapt to corporate responsibilities regarding finance and marketing.
Zanetti explained that he aims to be an executive who contributes beyond the sporting side, focusing on marketing, social causes, and club growth. He also emphasized the importance of mental health support for professional players, rejecting the notion that athletes are machines whose personal lives do not impact performance.
