After his fiery pre-game comments hitting out at American arrogance, Canada head coach Jesse Marsch showed his national team still has work to do to move past their southern neighbors.

The United States Men's National Team defeated Jesse Marsch's Canada 1-0 in an international friendly following controversial pre-match comments from the Canadian manager. Nineteen-year-old striker Justin Ellis scored the decisive goal after connecting with a cross from Alex Freeman. The victory secured manager Mauricio Pochettino's fourth consecutive win from four matches across the international window.
The defeat marked Marsch's first loss since Canada's 2026 World Cup exit against Morocco. Prior to the match, the Wisconsin native criticized American arrogance in an interview with The Guardian. Despite missing key players such as Alphonso Davies and out-shooting the USMNT, Canada could not beat goalkeeper Brian Schwake.
