Wayne Rooney has hit out at Lisandro Martinez following the defender's explosive post-match interview after the 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid.
Wayne Rooney has urged Manchester United to discipline Lisandro Martinez after the defender publicly criticized the club's board following a 2-0 Champions League loss to Atletico Madrid. Speaking on Amazon Prime, Rooney labeled Martinez's post-match comments disrespectful toward his teammates and the club, suggesting the Argentine's outburst appeared premeditated and risked disrupting the dressing room under head coach Michael Carrick.
Martinez had targeted technical director Jason Wilcox and senior leadership, claiming the squad lacked adequate summer investment to compete in Europe. Rooney argued that internal grievances should be handled by team captain Bruno Fernandes and warned that Martinez's own performances have not justified his criticism of the squad.
