‘Why I’m here’: Scott Parker sends message to West Ham fans in first words as new manager

West Ham United have confirmed the appointment of Scott Parker as their new manager on a two-and-a-half-year contract. The former Hammers midfielder takes over from Nuno Espirito Santo, who was dismissed following a poor start to the Championship campaign. In his first comments since returning to the club, Parker expressed pride in stepping into the role and outlined his clear ambition to lead the team back to the Premier League.

Parker previously achieved top-flight promotions while managing Fulham, Bournemouth, and Burnley before leaving the Clarets in April. As a player, he spent four seasons at West Ham from 2007 to 2011, winning back-to-back Player of the Season awards. Parker emphasized that discussions with club leaders Karim Virani and Daniel Křetínský confirmed a shared commitment to earning promotion from the second tier.
