Enzo Maresca considering key changes amid hectic fixture schedule
Erling Haaland's starting role for Manchester City against Ipswich is in question after manager Enzo Maresca suggested key players will soon need rest. Haaland has featured extensively across three competitions for City, while also starting four matches for Norway during the international break. Despite a busy schedule and a recent knock against Portugal, the striker has scored 13 goals for club and country this season, including netting in seven straight club matches.
Maresca cited high workloads for Haaland alongside Elliot Anderson, Enzo Fernandez, Marc Guehi, and Ruben Dias as reasons for impending squad rotation. However, The Standard suggests resting Haaland against AEK Athens in the Champions League on October 20 may be more practical than benching him against Ipswich. If rested, Antoine Semenyo or Phil Foden could potentially lead City's attack.
