About the Scottish Premiership

The Scottish Premiership is the top division of Scottish football, run by the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL). It replaced the Scottish Premier League in 2013.

Twelve clubs play each other three times over 33 matches. The league then splits into a top six and a bottom six, and each club plays five more matches against the teams in its half, making 38 in total. The bottom club is relegated to the Scottish Championship, and the club in 11th place goes into a play-off.
